The Dittmer Stables Trainer
Marlene
Marlene began riding at the tender age of 4 years old and by 11 had entered her first show. At 12 she entered her first barrel race, and is still competing today. In 1958 at the age of 14 she started riding and showing horses for other people. Since then she has never looked back. She has worked with Quarter Horses, Arabians, Paint Horses, National Show Horses, American Saddlebreds, Tennessee Walking Horses, Appaloosas, Mules, and more. She has shown halter, pleasure, jumping, hunter hack, equitation, stock horse and reining, trail, pole bending, barrel racing, and numerous fun classes. On top of all the riding she has done she also enjoys driving both single and in a team. Marlene also works with riders of all ages with disabilities.
Her teaching methods treat each student individually which allows her to personalize lessons to suit each student. She teaches basic, common sense methods for horsemanship that she has learned over the past 50+ years. She strives to teach each student how to tune into the horse whether on the ground or in the saddle.
Organizations Marlene belongs to include: IA Horse Council, American Quarter Horse Association, Iowa Rodeo Cowboys Association, Interstates Rodeo Association, National Barrel Horse Association, Pony Express Riders of Iowa.
Lesson Rates: $35.00 per hour for non-boarders of Dittmer Stables and $25.00 and hour for boarders of Dittmer Stables. Training Rates are by Private Treaty.
